A Year at a Glance

I am sure you all know that the beginning of the school year was taught by Mrs. Cimino.  During her time with the students, all classes read the book Wonder and dug deeply in the main characters of the book and read a variety of articles.

In December, we read A Long Walk to Water and watched Salva Dut speak to audiences about his experiences as one of the lost boys of Sudan.

January-February will be spent reading the book The Outsiders, which I am sure will lead us to many conversations about reputations and decision making  We will also be working on the Imagine National Character Essay as well as DBQs (document-based questions).

March-April will be spent in literature circle groups, with each group reading a book that is geared to their reading level.  There will be four to five literature circles per class, with each group reading a different book.  This should lead to interesting conversations between the students.

May will lead us to the conclusion of the students tenure at Imagine Schools.  We will focus on writing and preparation for high school.
