ABOUT ME
Welcome to Soldano World. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
First and foremost, I am a transplanted New Yorker from Long Island. Up until three years ago, I was a teacher of ELA and Ancient Civilizations at the Patchogue-Medford School District. My career as an educator began when I worked with an autistic population of students at Developmental Disabilities Institute and Just Kids Learning Center. After working in the field of special education for fifteen years, I changed the projectory of my teaching to elementary and middle school at the public school level. During my tenure with the Patchogue-Medford schools, I taught ninth, sixth, fifth, fourth and third grades, retiring in 2015.
While teaching on Long Island, I was awarded the NYS Air Force Association's Teacher of the Year; selected as a top five finalist for NYS Teacher of the Year; and selected to participate in Honeywell's Advanced Space Academy for Educators program, where I was one of nine American educators out of a total of sixteen international educator participants.
Since retiring, my husband and I relocated to Palm Coast and for the past two years I have been the founder and president of Stardust Educational Consulting, providing professional development and student workshops in the areas of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM). Having realized I missed the day to day contact with students and watching them grow both academically and emotionally, I chose to apply for a teaching position at Imagine Schools. How lucky am I to have been offered the position as the 8th grade ELA teacher? I am delighted to be back in the classroom and look forward to a successful second half of the school year.
